Nick Sadler

Nick completed his BSc honours Double Major in Sports
Science and Leisure Management at Brunel University
in 1997. Before going to university Nick had a gap year
during which he worked for York City Football Club and
completed various courses including several FA accreditation’s.
After university, Nick moved to America where he worked
as a football coach for New England Revolution in the
MLS and also as a personal trainer in Connecticut. In
addition to this, Nick worked as a coach at Brentford
Football Club throughout his degree and still acts as
a disabilities sport consultant for BFC. Through this
experience, Nick has become a leading authority on schools
fitness provision, helping to improve the health of
children today. Nick has recently become a school governor
for Kew Riverside Primary School where he has redesigned
the way in which school PE is taught.
Nick’s thesis involved comparing leisure facilities
in Europe, the United States and Australia and he has
since gained vast experience of leisure management around
the world. This has enabled him to progress into the
area of sports facility design and management.
Since establishing Motive8 in 1998, Nick has gained
a reputation as a superlative personal trainer working
with people of all ages and levels of fitness –
many of whom have been referred by GP’s. He also
specialises in training pre and post-natal women &
has just celebrated his 14th birth! |
Jonathan Pitts

In 1996 Jon completed a BSc in Sports Science at
Brunel University, specialising in the fields of Biomechanics
and Physiology. Since then he has provided health and
fitness solutions in a variety of fields. He and Nick
went into business together in 1998 when Motive8 was
born. It has since become one of the largest health
and fitness companies in London, providing solutions
from GP referrals, through to the design and management
of dedicated facilities. In this time, Jon has worked
with over 50 clients, including celebrities, as an exercise
coach.
In addition to this, Jon has also worked with many
elite athletes, including his work as fitness coach
to Brentford F.C, where he became accredited with the
Football Association, an SAQ practitioner (Speed, Agility
and Quickness), and gained recognition in the research
and use of Heart Rate Monitors.
In the last year, Jon has made groundbreaking advances
in introducing specific Sports Science solutions to
professional arenas previously untouched. In particular,
advances in the health and fitness of jockeys and golfers
has required dedicated research to achieve unique successes.

Tom Bennett

Tom is a highly motivated and valuable part of the lecturing team on the
BSc Sports Rehabilitation Degree at St Mary's University.
He is currently the Sports Rehabilitator for both Wales
and Teddington Senior Men’s hockey teams as well
as the Rugby Football League teams.
Tom will also be undertaking a massage therapist role
at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens this summer. |
Sarah Cleland-Smith

Sarah started her career as a rehabilitation based Fitness Advisor
prescribing specific exercise programmes catering for
both novice and experienced clients. This was followed
by working in a leading Musculoskeletal Healthcare Clinic
in the West End as a Rehabilitation Therapist alongside
a multi-disciplinary team of allied health professionals
including physiotherapists, osteopaths and podiatrists.
She was responsible for the implementation of both hydrotherapy
and rehabilitation classes in addition to individual
treatments and training for both the NHS and private
sector.
During her career Sarah has developed a keen interest
in muscle imbalance and core stability particularly
the sphere of lumbo-pelvic dysfunction .Subsequently
she has trained with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy
& Pilates Institute) in Matwork, Ball and Theraband
repertoires which now play a large part in her approach
to injury rehabilitation.
Sarah now has vast experience of fitness and corrective
exercise programming - she currently works alongside
GP’s and physiotherapists to provide progressive
rehabilitation and continued referral to personal trainers.
She has also developed her interest in elite sport with
professional jockey’s, educating them in the benefits
of injury screening and functional training.

| Alex Capon

After completing her schooling, Alex studied for a Bsc Honours Degree
at Exeter University in Exercise and Sport Sciences.
Her interests lie heavily in the physiological side
of sport sciences, and after graduating from Exeter,
she enrolled in a post-graduate course at St.Mary’s
College, Strawberry Hill, in Sports Rehabilitation.
On completion of this course, she became a fully qualified
Sports Rehabilitator, a member of BASRaT and a trained
ITEC Aromatherapist.
Alex has been working in the field of sport for a number
of years, with a variety of age groups and she spent
a considerable period of time at a regional rehabilitation
centre for the armed services and assisting the physio
at a professional football club.
Since working with Motive8, Alex has been working with
clients for injury rehabilitation, massage and personal
training, as well as taking children’s activity
classes and running a primary school PE programme.

Matthew Richens

Being an energetic, keen sportsman from an early age has enabled Matt
to become the fitness professional he is today. Matt
graduated from St Mary’s College University with
a BSc Sports Science Degree. He has dedicated his last
three years to learning in depth aspects of sport health
and fitness such as exercise physiology, psychology
and biomechanics.
Matt also completed a diploma in fitness instructing
and personal training where many of his degree course
aspects were covered and put into practice within a
health club and private personal training.
Matt is also qualified to teach aerobics and spin
and has trained a wide variety of people in terms of
age, goals and ability. From weight loss to muscle gain,
general fitness to sport specific, Matt has enjoyed
much success with developing clients’ goals into
realities offering fun, personally tailored programmes
and continuous feedback to ensure goals are being met.
Matt gets great satisfaction from his job as every
client is different and no two programmes are the same.

James Sadler

James Sadler completed his Batchelor of Science Honours
degree in Food and Human Nutrition last year at the
prestigious University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with 2:1
classification. He has also trained at the highly respected
Medical Research Centre’s Human Nutrition Research
Centre in Cambridge. Prior to James nutritional training,
he trained as chef at a highly regarded restaurant in
North Yorkshire. Food and nutrition are most definitely
his passion in life.
The role of a nutritionist is to plan food and nutrition
programs and supervise the preparation and serving of
meals. They help to prevent and treat illnesses by promoting
healthy eating habits and recommending dietary modifications,
such as the use of less salt for those with high blood
pressure or the reduction of fat and sugar intake for
those who are overweight
James Sadler motivates, inspires, and encourages as
he assists you in achieving a healthier lifestyle. His
humour guides and sometimes even pushes a little. He
blends years of cooking and nutritional know-how to
help you gain life's high ground: healthier eating habits
and a better-balanced lifestyle.

Lucienne Lilla

Lucienne Lilla is a fully qualified Beauty Therapist and Reiki practitioner
with eight years experience in the beauty field at various
beauty salons and health clubs. She has a BTEC in beauty
therapy and has been highly trained in aromatherapy and
Swedish massage techniques including Indian head massage.
Lucienne’s product knowledge is vast due to training
with Clarins, E’spa, Darphin and Guinot to name
but a few. |

Mary-Ann Berrett (Maz)

Maz has completed six years of post-graduate education within the sports
science and injury rehabilitation field. She has three
years experience of fitness and exercise programming within
Cannons Health Clubs. Presently, Maz runs a postural and
corrective exercise clinic, in addition to working with
two rugby clubs where she manages the players injury rehabilitation.
Her specific interests lie in postural correction and
core stability, whereby she identifies weaknesses in posture
and lifestyle and then seeks to improve these via corrective
exercise training and an education in life skills. Her
clients range from the desk-bound office worker through
to the elite sportsperson, including international athletes. |
Darryl Jones

Darryl is 26 years old and has worked in the fitness industry for five
years. He graduated from Brunel University in 2000 with
a BSc Degree in Sports Science. Darryl has spent the past
three years working as a personal trainer and aerobic
class instructor all over London. He is also a certified
Strength and Conditioning specialist (CSCS) and qualified
to teach Body Combat, Body Pump, Spinning, Boxercise and
Circuits. In the past Darryl has also played semi-professional
basketball and was a development coach for the Sports
Council for Wales. Darryl leads a very active lifestyle,
but when he is not active he enjoys going to the cinema,
reading books and sleeping! |
