Nutritional Science investigates how the body nourishes itself. It studies the effects of nutrient supply on the body's functions, such as physical activity, in health and disease. My role as a nutritionist is to advance, apply scientific knowledge and promote an understanding of the effects of dietary nutrients on growth, development, reproductive capacity, health and well-being in humans.

Individual Nutrition Counselling
Do you have nutrition questions about weight loss, cholesterol and fat, childhood obesity, Atkin's, or other fad diets? If you do, Motive8 can help. We will develop a nutrition plan based on your age, weight, height, gender, and activity level that will assure that you are getting appropriate protein, carbohydrate, fat, and calorie intake. You will receive a nutrition summary that will provide specific strategies to help you achieve your nutrition and fitness goals.

Computerised Dietary Analysis
Learn how you can lose weight and still enjoy the foods you love. Improve energy levels by finding out how much protein, carbohydrate, fat, and calories you are currently consuming and learning how much you really need for optimal health and weight management. You will record your food and fluid intake for 4 consecutive (normal) days and also log your exercise. Your records will be analysed using a nutrition software programme. The nutrition summary will provide individualised recommendations based on your nutrition and fitness goals. It will also include a list of any nutrients that your diet may be deficient in such as iron, zinc, or B vitamins. In addition, you receive a 30-minute consultation with James.

Weekly Food Plans
James has years of experience training as a chef in two highly regarded restaurants in North Yorkshire and he has developed a wide and extensive knowledge of preparing various types of cuisine. He will also offer advice and guidance on how to really read nutrition labels on food products and point out the best and worst food choices. James is able to offer the unique service of writing individualised weekly food plans, including all the recipes, for clients who desire this very personal service.
