Commercial Club Overview
Within a commercial health club, the member can often be viewed as a statistic, which leads to a high dropout rate just 3 months after joining. The initial induction or subsequent reviews must be booked well in advance due to limited appointment availability. Subsequently there is a lack of monitoring of an individual member’s progress. During peak times the gyms are crowded and members often find themselves queuing for equipment. Many commercial gyms have staff with only basic qualifications who can only offer a limited service in terms of exercise programmes and advice. Class timetables are often inflexible due to a high number of participants. The classes are large and booking a week in advance is usually essential to guarantee a place. Additional services are often limited and so consequently members find themselves underachieving, lacking motivation and ultimately giving up exercise.
