MOT & Postural Correction
Why is posture so important?
With the current lifestyle many people have come to
adopt, the posture of the general population is moving further
and further away from neutral alignment. Long hours sitting
at work or in the car, looking up at screens, or down at desks
is a recipe for creating muscle imbalances and resulting poor
posture. Other than leading to general aches and pains, more
serious chronic problems and long term injury can develop if
left undetected for too long. The Motive8 Body
M.O.T is a 60-minute postural assessment, designed to evaluate
any skeletal and muscular imbalances. Muscle length tests
and postural assessments are carried out by a qualified rehabilitation
specialist. When complete, a corrective exercise programme
is subsequently formulated to correct any imbalances uncovered
in the assessment, and to further strengthen the stabilising
muscles which hold the body in neutral alignment. The process
is aimed at not only correcting existing imbalances, but to
train and strengthen the entire body, so these imbalances
will not develop in the future.
The programme will be explained and demonstrated in detail,
and designed in a manner which can fit into your lifestyle.
A series of several follow-up programmes will be put in place
every 2 – 3 weeks to progress the corrective exercises
depending on individual developments. These appointments will
be used to explain and perform the progressive programme.
Subsequent corrective exercise sessions can either be carried
out in a personal training manner, with the rehabilitation
specialist on a one to one basis, or as part of a home programme
under our guidance.
The individualised sessions aim to re-educate postural control
and core stability, which can relieve even niggling day to
day aches and pains. Progression will be closely monitored
and continuously adapted according to your development. This
form of training would suit the less motivated individual
who would like the guidance of a therapist throughout each
session.
