Brightel Datanet as BT re-sellers can arrange the delivery of your telephone lines directly from BT. Apart from the cable companies, however badged or billed the majority of lines are still installed by BT. We recommend digital ISDN lines for your Siemens system, which will enable you to enjoy the maximum system benefits. These include:
Note: These facilities are optional & can be controlled by the system administrator and/or user.
ISDN 30E means that up to 30 digital lines (speech channels) can be connected on one bearer and utilise one card on your Siemens system. The minimum number of lines that can be ordered from BT is 8. We only recommend ISDN 30E where 10 or more lines are required, as on a smaller scale it is not as economic as ISDN 2E in terms of both BT charges and Siemens equipment costs. BT installation charges are £125 per line up to 15 speech channels and £30 per channel for > 15.
ISDN 2E means that there are two speech channels on each line i.e 4 ISDN lines can support 8 simultaneous conversations between your Siemens telephone system and the outside world. If you have analogue lines already they can be converted to ISDN 2E. BT installation charges vary from free ( Business Plan) to xxx per line depending on the degree of commitment to routing calls via BT.
Analogue Lines
These are the types of lines that have been around in one form or another since the invention of telephones. They will not support most of the facilities listed above. Each line is permanently associated with one number even though you can have many lines with that one number. This means that analogue lines are not very flexible compared with ISDN . However they are very important in one respect which is that you cannot have broadband (ADSL) service without first having an analogue line.
