|
North Yorkshire Education Authority Outdoor CentresThe four centres are administered by North Yorkshire County Council for the benefit of children and adults from a wide variety of educational establishments and other organisations. Programmes are designed to suit the needs of a wide range of groups and students. We are flexible in our approach and will adapt to meet your requirements. These are some of the categories: (A) School courses for Primary, Secondary or Higher Education can include Outdoor & Adventurous Activities, Environmental Studies, GCSE or A Level Field Work. Expert Centre Teaching Staff are on hand to lead programmes, assist school staff or offer advice. These are usually 5 day courses from Monday to Friday. We can fulfill your National Curriculum criteria. (B) Extra Curricular bookings for groups during school holiday periods and most weekends. They are available to all age groups with staffed or unstaffed options. For full details request the ECB brochure. (C) GNVQ/Leadership and Team Building Courses. Usually of 3 or 5 days duration and designed for 12th Year (Sixth Form) groups, these courses offers a range of activities with emphasis on team building via management initiatives and problem solving exercises. This relevant and desirable course is very popular and can be easily adapted to business and industry. (D) Specialist Courses/Nationally Recognised Qualifications for all age groups wishing to improve their skills in a wide range of outdoor activities such as canoeing, caving, climbing, cycling, walking, sailing or orienteering. (E) Hostel Accommodation for those wishing to do their own thing. (F) Special Needs We have experience in designing courses for groups with Special Needs. The Residential ExperienceAll courses benefit from the experience of living in the centres. Much emphasis is placed on the personal and social development of the students. Many groups consider this to be one of the most important aspects of their visit. Courses and their content should be considered as a natural extension to the curricular work of the students.
