Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What do we need to bring?
A: Warm clothing and a warm hat, even on warm days with wind chill it will be colder at sea, sunglasses and suntan lotion are also recommended even on cloudy days.

Q: How do I book?
A: Prior telephone booking is advised due to the changing British weather. Once a telephone booking has been made we will then contact you by telephone before 10 am on the morning of your sailing to confirm the sailing details and to take full payment. This way should the weather be bad you do not make a wasted journey to us.

Q: Is there any car parking?
A: Yes, “The Waterfront” retail complex (which is 5 minutes walk from our quay side) has a large free public car park with disabled parking bays. NOTE : This may be very busy on summer weekends and bank holidays so arrive early.

Q: I cannot walk far as I am disabled, is there disabled parking?
A: Yes the free car park has disabled bays, you can also drop passengers off very close to “The Waterfront”, however do not leave your car unattended as it will get clamped by on site security. Ask our staff for further information and assistance.

Q: Are there any restrictions on your sailings.
A: Yes, sailings are not suitable for pregnant women and people who suffer from spinal and joint conditions (including Osteoporosis). Sailings are also not suitable for passengers who cannot “brace” themselves. Powerboat Adventures are not suitable for children under 10 years old.
Please see our Terms and Conditions for more details, or ask a member of our staff.

Q: Will I get wet?
A: We operate an open boat, so there is a high probability of spray - so don’t wear your best clothes!
We supply (free of charge) use of our waterproof jackets and trousers. As such ladies are advised to wear trousers before visiting us.

Q: Can I wear high heel shoes?
A: Sorry, this type of footwear can damage the boat, we would recommend that you wear trainers, sturdy shoes or boots (i.e. with a non slip sole)

Q: Will I get sea sick?
A: Although we cannot guarantee it, generally people do not get sea sick as the boat (due to its design) “planes” on the surface of the water so does not suffer from the “roll” of traditional boats.

Q: What facilities do you have on board?
A: None as such due to the type of vessel, although we do sell bottled water if you are thirsty. There are public toilets, local shops, cafes and restaurants next to our boarding point.

Q: Do we have to wear a life jacket?
A: Yes, everyone on board must wear a life jacket at all times. Our crew will adjust this for you to ensure proper fitting. Children will be fitted with foam buoyancy aids that are suitable for their height and weight. We have buoyancy aid for all sizes of children including babies.

Q: What ages do you take children?
A: We take all ages and abilities, from babies to 98 year olds. (Except Powerboat Adventures - these are not suitable for children under 10 years old)

Q: How fast do you go?
A: We do NOT operate "adrenalin power rides", however our boat does travel faster than traditional boats. If you are at any time unhappy about the speed the skipper will slow down to a speed you are comfortable with.

Q: What if its raining, are trips cancelled?
A: Rain does not stop the trip, therefore if you don’t turn up its classed as a “No Show” and you are not entitled to any refund of your booking.

Q: If its stormy are trips cancelled?
A: We are constantly monitoring the weather and local conditions, if a trip is to be cancelled we will inform you as soon as possible and offer to transfer you booking to the next available sailing or give you a full refund.
