that’s why she’s here

daydreaming around my memories

a crazy race back through time

fleeting glimpses of faces of past friends and lost loves

were those their faces, or my imaginations?

then, strangely, I remembered someone

and could see her face in every detail

there was a girlfriend once who worked at a special hospital

a place for those with troubled minds

and I visited her there – just the one time

as she walked me back to my car

I saw the most beautiful and saddest face I’ll ever see

so elegant, so graceful - almost unbearably beautiful

but empty eyes that had no life

I said it’s as if as if she has been to a terrible place

and it stole her eyes away

it did was the reply

that’s why she’s here

playing happily

and never will

you didn't deserve it

the card

little red magnets

cursing softly

that's not living

that's despair

barely touching

the faintest of whispers

so much

all my reasons

that's why she's here

who did that to you

already dead
