Building Surveying

Access Audits

We are able to provide specific and detailed advice on demonstrating compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act and Approved Document M of the Building Regulations. Our surveyors undertake Access Audits, prepare Access Statements and work to various access-related best value performance indicators. Given our skills background we are well positioned to translate and subsequently implement both physical alterations and management procedures into practical solutions.

Building Conservation

HAMSON Partnership has provided consultancy for some of the countries most prestigious historic buildings. Working with English Heritage, Local Authority Conservation Teams and other stakeholders our Surveyors have the experience to interpret and apply the core principles of conservation in the delivery of all of our building surveying services.

Building Pathology

Building pathology remains a core skill for all our Building Surveyors and contributes to the majority of our services. We have qualified and experienced surveyors and service engineers who are regularly providing professional advice and reports on condition, disrepair and inherent defects associated with structure, fabric and building services installations.

Condition Surveys & Quinquennial Inspections

We have considerable experience in undertaking, administering and/or project managing condition surveys of both small and large estates to support a range of corporate objectives including master planning, planned maintenance strategies, asset management plans and regulatory returns. Together with our complementary disciplines we are also able to integrate fire, safety and environmental components within the survey process to enable clients to demonstrate due diligence and further promote best value from the survey process. We also undertake quinquennial inspections for ecclesiastical buildings.

Dilapidations

We are able to provide dilapidation advice for both landlords and tenants ensuring the effective application of the Civil Procedures Rules and relevant pre-action protocols. Our building surveyors prepare terminal and interim schedules together with repair notices and statements of claim while also undertaking the negotiation and/or defence of served dilapidations. We are also able to provide strategic advice on potential lease liabilities, responsibilities and costs.

Life Cycle Replacement & Capital Works

HAMSON Partnership undertake a considerable volume of minor and major building surveying projects encompassing life cycle replacements, refurbishments and capital works enabling our Clients to maintain, adapt and exploit their assets to support dynamic business aims. Projects cover a broad spectrum of design aims in diverse and often sensitive environments from railways and museums through to social housing, education and healthcare.

The Party Wall etc Act places particular duties and responsibilities on building and adjoining owners. HAMSON Partnership are able to act on behalf of either party to ensure that statutory responsibilities are effectively discharged and that our Clients interest are not prejudiced while facilitating the aspirations of the project.

Expert witness and legal advice

Our surveyors have acted on behalf of both insurers and the insured in the establishment, preparation, negotiation and settlement of insurance claims for a variety of perils. We are also able to provide expert witness services together with alternative dispute resolution procedures.
