The core of Adur and Worthing Citizens Advice Bureau is the General Advice Service.
We help solve nearly 6,000 new problems every year which are central to people's lives, including debt and consumer issues, benefits, housing, legal matters, employment, and immigration.
Our advisers are all highly trained volunteers who collectively give over 4,500 hours of their time each year. We give each person we advise as much time as they need. As we are often very busy, we sometimes have to ask people to wait. The Bureau has a Quality Mark in General Help awarded by the Legal Services Commission.
The Bureau runs 24 hours of drop-in sessions per week, 6 hours of appointments, gives telephone advice and replies to written enquiries. We are not able to offer e-mail enquiries.
When you visit the Bureau during a drop-in session, you will be given a diagnostic interview.
You will be asked to complete and sign a form allowing the Bureau to record your details and, if necessary, contact other people/organisations on your behalf. We would like you to complete this, even if you have been to the Bureau before, so that we can ensure that your details are always up to date. You do not have to give your details but it may limit what we can do for you if you do not.
You will then be given a short interview lasting 10-15 minutes, during which you will be asked questions to assess the assistance you require.
We will discuss with you the next step in order to help you resolve your problem or answer your query.
