Powerful Dedication to Efficiency

Creating the circulation required to filter and heat the water of a spa, can be accomplished in two ways. Some manufacturers use a 2-speed pump that doubles as both the circulation pump and the jet pump. The pump will operate on a low speed to provide circulation/filtration then high speed to provide whirlpool action to the jets.

With one pump taking on double duty, its durability can be seriously jeopardized. So to protect the pump from being overworked and to increase the efficiency of the system, a filter cycle must be programmed to shut the pump entirely off. This results in absolutely no circulation/filtration, often for over half the day.

Relax Spas uses a much more efficient method, as on most models we use a separate low amperage Mini-Miser circulation pump dedicated solely to this function. By not using one pump to do two jobs, Relax Spas can incorporate a very high flow, low energy consuming pump that will use less energy running 24 hours a day than a 2-speed pump operating for a fraction of the day. The result is constant 24 hour filtration with more total gallons/litres filtered and less energy consumed. See for yourself . . .

Relax Spa Mini-Miser Circulation System
Dedicated circulation pump drawing 0.5 Amps.
At 240 volts this equates to 120 Watts (0.12kW)
The circulation pump runs for 24 hours per day so uses 2.88kWh
(24 x 0.12)

2-Speed Pump Method
Low speed jet pump typically draws 2.4 Amps.
At 240 Volts this equates to 576 Watts (0.576kW)
A typical filter cycle would be 5 hours in each 12 hours (10 hours in 24)
The low speed pump would use 5.76kWh (10 x 0.576)
