Foam Technology

Acell Images

Acell foam is a structural frangible foam, capable of being compressed to a given shape and is manufactured from formulations of Phenolic Resins and combinations of inert fillers.

The foam cell size, density and filler contents are formulated to meet the needs of the finished composite structure.

  • Average foam cell size can be varied from 0.25mm to 4mm
  • Foam densities between 80 kg/m3 to 800 kg/m3 can be produced
  • The combination of inert mineral fillers is varied to change the physical properties of the foam such as thermal and sound insulation or electrical conductivity

Acell foam is produced in a purpose designed and constructed automated plant, capable of producing foams on an industrial scale.

Acell foam is environmentally friendly, it does dot use CFC’s or HCFC’s as blowing agents to form the foam or VOC’s as release agents. Off-cuts of foam can be recycled as powder charges in future foam production, thereby reducing waste and subsequent landfill.

Acell Foams have exceptional performance properties in relation to:

  • Fire resistance
  • Thermal Insulation
  • Structural strength
  • Sound Insulation

A major feature of the technology is the ability to apply a variety of surface finishes ranging from thermo-set resins, through cementatious to gypsum compounds in a single step moulding operation. The choice of surface finishes is vast and includes:

RESINS

CEMENTATIOUS MATERIAL
Polyester
Plasters
Polyurethane Hydrates
Acrylic Hemihydrates
Phenolics Cements
Vinylesters
Cement Rubber Compounds
Epoxies
Plus Minerals and Fibrous Reinforcements
