The District covers 113 square miles and
is home to nearly 90,000 people. It has nine miles of coastline
and the contrasting landscapes of the Downs and Weald. Much
of the population lives in the coastal towns of Peacehaven
and Telscombe, Newhaven and Seaford. The rural area to the
north has the county town of Lewes and many small villages
and hamlets, each with their own character and history.
