Peacehaven
& Telscombe Regeneration Partnership (PTRP) was established
in February 2001. The PTRP is made up of representatives from
the local statutory, voluntary
and community and business sector.
The PTRP undertook a public consultation, Your
Town Your Say, in 2001, which highlighted what local people identified
as needing improvement and investment. The Partnership found that
these broadly fitted into the following areas: better community
facilities; better transport; thriving local commercial and retail
services; access to education and skills training; sports and
leisure facilities. The Partnership meets up monthly to address
the issues and to work towards making improvements.
Get Involved:
The partnership welcomes involvement and representation
from voluntary/community groups/organisations and local businesses
in the towns who have a real interest and commitment in making
improvements in the areas identified above. If you would like
to get involved or to find out more, please get in touch.

What has been achieved?
Youth Task Group | Access
to Learning and Skills Training | Other projects
Youth Task Group:
This is made up of representatives from interested and relevant
organisations to develop a range of projects within the specific
theme of Youth. The task group meets regularly to discuss and
take forward proposals, to seek funding sources and to feedback
on progress.
•
Working with Youth Development Service to increase the opening
times for youth activity at The Joff.
• Funding for basketball hoop which is positioned in Telscombe
Cliffs Way
• Samba band for young people
• Commissioning of Youth Survey in July 2005 to identify
issues and problems and to consequently improve services for young
people in the towns.
Future Projects:
• ‘Try it out’ festival for young people to
be held on Sunday 9th October 2005, giving young people the opportunity
to try activities they haven’t done before (activities chosen
taken from results of Youth Survey).
• Creation of a Youth Forum to discuss and action projects
with the Partnership.
• Production of What’s on for Young People publication
(work in progress) to inform young people of the wide range of
activities available in the towns.
Access to Learning
and Skills Training:
Working with East
Sussex Learning Partnership to increase number of adult education
classes available in the towns.
• IT courses
• IT courses for parents run at local primary school
• Free training for volunteers in community groups
Various vocational adult education courses run at Telscombe Civic
Centre (contact centre for details: 01273 589777)
Other projects:
• Provision of the new sound and lighting system
in the Meridian Hall to enable regular cinema screenings and other
community events (e.g. drama, music etc).
• The Circle – an annual sustainability festival held
in July during Telscombe Town Fair at Chatsworth Park.
