Our Story
The origin of Indigo has always been clear, as have its intentions. Launched in Kent in 1973 as Clean Factory & Office Services Ltd, the Company's rapid expansion made it necessary to re-locate to a larger home. In 1976 that new home became Service House in Romford where the Company's Head Office is still based.
In those first few years the organisation enjoyed considerable success and became a supplier to many large public and private sector industries. Being active in a wide range of business sectors saw the Company's name and reputation grow just as rapidly as its client list and the range of services offered.
Such a rapid increase in size could have brought a fragmented feel to the Company but strong ethics and a straightforward honest approach meant that the business grew as a 'family' with every employee believing themselves to be a crucial part of the organisation; respected as a colleague, valued as a friend, part of the story.
Whilst the country as a whole grappled with the increasing legislation surrounding business practices, and in particular Health & Safety, the Company thrived through its integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction and it continued to succeed and expand.
In 1999 the Company's growth and activity attracted the attention of Vebego which lead to its acquisition and integration with two other cleaning companies, PCL and the Swanlux Group. At that same moment the Indigo brand was born and Service House became the home of Indigo Services (UK).
The family theme runs deep within the heart of the Vebego Group and from its humble beginnings 65 years ago, when Harold Goedmakers took a handcart, ladder and some buckets and started a cleaning business called Hago, the business is still privately owned and operated by the same family.
Of course the family now extends to include all of its many thousands of employees and every person involved in the Group's activities across Europe feels that they directly contribute to the organisation's success story.
Through Vebego's involvement, and the shared ethics of the two businesses, the Indigo name has become synonymous with good, honest hard work and excellence in service delivery. The strength of the Indigo name is built on this honesty alongside our care for our colleagues and our aim to establish true friendships with our clients.
There is a feeling within our Company that Indigo people work for Indigo. That may appear an obvious statement to many people however, with further investigation into the facts behind the feeling, you will get closer to the essence of our business.
Our 'family' completely and utterly cares about the Company. They care about the job we all do and about the service we give to our Clients. They care about how the outside world perceives our Company and how our Company affects the World; they have a fire in their souls which drives them and a determination to get things done, properly, professionally and on time.
As one colleague recently commented "I am proud to call myself an Indigo person".
