Introducing
you to some of the colourful and varied clients who currently
frequent Cybersound's hallowed rehearsal rooms |
The Capelle Sound takes root in
breakbeats, choppy guitars, ethnic instrumentation and thumping
basslines. Out in front is Nic Capelle, the bands namesake that
actually translates as "a small private orchestra". Nic
slaps audiences around the face with his powerful voice, which is
often compared to Tom Jones or David Byrne in his Talking Heads
days. Slovakian guitarist Paul Gregor provides an eloquent subtext
to Nic Capelle's epic songwriting.
This fiercely ambitious group
are clearly on the up, having made the final of the O2 unsigned
bands competition. "Looking In A Mirror", the track
selected by the o2 panel is definately a favourite at gigs. "I
try to write songs with meaning" says Nic Capelle. "I
started experimenting with music when I found a bunch of records
belonging to my Grandad. Classics such as Louis Armstrong, Nina
Simone, and B B King. It kinda grew from there".
They played a cracking gig at
02 wireless in June and wowed the audience during their main stage
slot at the Nozstock festival in July. Recent gigs have included The
Clapham Grand, Notting Hill Arts Club and Barfly. There's no doubt
the reflection in the mirror is one of imminent success for Capelle! |

Its
late 2006 and sitting around a rehearsal room somewhere in Deptford
are Even Thieves, their first gathering initiated with a phone call
between friends with expectations of putting together a band....
Split between S.E London &
Maidstone
they got to work on what little material they had, making Deptford
their base during the months to follow. It wasn't long before the
songs started to come and a unique sound & style surfaced giving
them incentive to put on their first show.
After only 9
very busy months which have included XFM Airplay, exclusive live
shows to crowds of 2000 at Billingsgate, regular gigs at respected
venues such as Barfly Camden, Dublin Castle,
& securing future gigs at Carling Islington Academy & the
Café Royal, Even Thieves are continuing to raise
their game, playing bigger, playing better, but always with the same
intensions that brought them together originally... to make the best
music they can & have some fun along the way!!

Hailing
from Deptford , THE PHOBICS were formed in the winter of 1999.
rising from the ashes of Living in Texas, Bad Karma Beckons, The
Barbs, Rumorosa and Dirty Harry. These musical misfits have bin
around the block, and know their three chord punk rock 'n' roll
chops. Think back to a
time when Garage meant The Sonics,The Seeds, Roky Erickson et
al, – trashy guitars, cars and girls. In the last year alone
The Phobics have been wowing the London punk scene and picking up
new fans with well-received gigs with likes of The Star Spangles,
Midnight Creeps and The Fleshies from America. |
