2013 Transport Trust Award Ceremony
Each year the Trust hosts a ceremony at which our annual awards - Preservationist of the Year, Young Preservationist of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award - as well as project Restoration Award certificates - are presented by our patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent.
Brooklands Museum
At the invitation of the Museum trust's Director, Alan Winn, for this year's award ceremony we returned to the historic clubhouse of the Brooklands motor racing circuit.
The Brooklands estate housed the world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit, constructed at Weybridge, Surrey in 1907. As well as the clubhouse and pits area, sections of its famous banked racing circuit are still in evidence.
From WW1 the venue took on aviation significance, the site of many engineering and technological achievements throughout eight decades of the 20th century, building famous planes including the Wellington, Hurricane, Viscount and VC10.
Brooklands Museum is open to the public and supported by a charitable trust.
