2012 Transport Trust Award Ceremony

Each year the Trust hosts a ceremony at which our annual awards - Preservationist of the Year, Young Preservationist of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award - as well as project Restoration Award certificates - are presented by our patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

Trinity House

Breaking with tradition, the 2012 ceremony returned to the previous year's venue, Trinity House on Tower Hill.

The present neo-classical Trinity House building was designed by architect Samuel Wyatt and built in 1794. The interior features notable staircases and a suite of state rooms with fine views towards the Tower of London. The building is home to the Trinity House Corporation, the body that looks after the lighthouses and buoys assisting navigation around Britain's coastline,

The Award Winners

Once again HRH Prince Michael accepted the invitation to present the awards, assisted by the Trust's President, Sir William McAlpine.

Preservationist of the Year
The Transport Trust awards its premier trophy to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the cause of transport heritage preservation. Look here to see who received the 2012 Preservationist of the Year Award.

Young Preservationist of the Year
The Transport Trust also salutes younger members of the transport preservation movement who, despite their age, have already made a notable contribution. Look here to see who received the 2012 Young Preservationist of the Year Award.

Lifetime Achievement
The Transport Trust also salutes members of the transport preservation movement who, across periods of many years, have made a sustained and major contribution. Look here to see who received a 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Restoration Awards
The successful applicants for Restoration Awards during 2011 were also invited to the ceremony to receive certificates from HRH Prince Michael. A reminder of the projects that were considered to merit awards in 2011 can be found here.
