TCS Crypt & Cemetery Clearance Services is the formulation of two disciplines, Archaeology and Funerary Direction. An article in the Guardian Newspaper reported on a recent Parliamentary Inquiry into the crisis in our cities. It stated that with 28% of the UK population opting for burial over cremation our cemeteries in cities are reaching saturation point.

The report stated that in areas of our capital there is a crisis looming, particularly in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Westminster where they have NO sites at all for burial. Four further districts in Enfield, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Brent are facing similar difficulties.

The current solution is very expensive, lacks sensitivity, and disturbs Victorian cemeteries, by destroying paths and flowerbeds, resulting in unpleasant burial mountains. An alternative suggestion to the Parliamentary Committee is to utilize a new concept known as "Lift and Deepen". Under this scheme old graves are opened and the remains exhumed and then reverently re-interred lower than before, allowing for up to five burials to be placed on top.
