Tell me about De Vere Hotels and Leisure Group:
Broadband is vital to the hotel group's internal network. There have been business benefits all round. The De Vere Hotels and Leisure group was one of the first hotel groups - if not the first - to adopt Broadband as a major element in its network connectivity to its hotels. The company, with a turnover of more than £27m and well over a thousand employees, first started using Broadband in January 2003.
How does De Vere use Broadband?
"Broadband forms the basis of our wide area network (WAN) circuits to as many hotels as can receive it throughout the UK," said De Vere spokesman Ed Sygrove. "We use it for all forms of data transfer, e-mail, the Internet, customer relationship management systems, and so on."
"Using Broadband to transfer data more quickly between sites has led to increasing centralisation of IT, and consequently greater accuracy in recognizing customers across our hotel estate, which has in turn improved service delivery."
The benefits of Broadband have been lower network operations costs, improved flexibility in systems provision, and improved information-sharing capabilities.
