Kathleen Hopper's job would be impossible without broadband.
Ms Hopper is an online tutor responsible for raising the standard of learning in UK adults. She revealed that 90 per cent of her work involves being online - everything she uses for each course, tutoring and support materials are downloaded from the web.
"My tutoring administrative papers are obtained electronically, plus my communication with my employers," she said. "I am involved in chat sessions and sharing multi-message board use for tutor support, subject support, learner support, employer support and many more.
Ms Hopper 'cannot imagine' her life without the Internet - she talks to her family in Canada and Australia on it and uses it for her work, research and her own learning. And broadband enables all this to be done faster!
And the benefits are:
"Time is a huge benefit gained from broadband. Before I used broadband, I wasted hours trying to open websites, send emails and, more specifically, download material and information. My job would simply not be possible without broadband."
