The finest example of domestic Art Deco in the country and the only home of its kind open to visitors. The 1930s house is magically ‘fused’ with the 1470s Great Hall where Henry VIII grew up. The house is surrounded by superb period gardens. New for 2004: never seen before family photograph on display. For 40 years the family home of Charles Darwin. The gardens,
woods, walks, meadows, greenhouse, orchid and kitchen garden
are being restored to re-create the atmosphere and appearance
of the last few years of Charles Darwin's life.
