When you're looking for information about Brighton & Hove there are as many as 500 different websites published in the area that could provide the answer. Some are the sites of the main local public service providers, such as the Council, the NHS or the police, whilst some are run by individual businesses or community groups or schools or shops.
You could find what you want on a blog, or a site that offer club listings and reviews of pubs, or it could be in the local newspaper archive. Whatever you're looking for and whoever is publishing it you are likely to use a search engine to help you find it, whether it is Google, Yahoo, MSN.
The p2b.net search engine is different because it only contains sites about Brighton & Hove. It is more focused than other search engines and has a different relationship with the users and providers of the information it contains. It is run by people who are part of Brighton & Hove so it can respond more easily to the needs of people in the area.
The site also includes specialist search areas, such as jobs, education and images, which make it easier to find specific content.
The network of content currently includes all the partner's sites plus a growing network of local sites. This is being added in an organic way, in response to the needs of users and requests from lcoal site owners who want to be in the search engine.
There will be no charge for being in the search engine but the partners have a policy about what will be included in the search index, such as not including adult content.
