Taxi LicensingAll our vehicles, drivers and operators are licensed by the Brighton and Hove City Council and undergo a strict annual testing as well as being subject to age limits. Drivers both Private Hire and Hackney have to be CRB approved undergo medicals as well as DVLA licensing checks. In addition all drivers have to pass A special driving test together with the Brighton and Hove City Hackney Carriage exam which consists of over 2,000 streets and places of interest. The council only sets the fares for taxis but private hire cars usually charge the same. A fare card giving details of the charges should be displayed inside each vehicle and a taximeter automatically calculates the fare. Unlike some companies, all of Streamline’s vehicles and drivers are licensed exclusively by Brighton & Hove City Council if a company uses a vehicle licensed by another authority they are effectively unregulated always use a Brighton and Hove City Taxi or Private Hire vehicle. Vehicles from outside the city can only pick up in Brighton and Hove if they are pre-booked. It is illegal to ply for hire within the city unless licensed by the Brighton and Hove City Council it also means that in the event of an accident that the vehicle would not be insured. Always look out for licensed taxis for more information visit the Brighton and Hove Council web page. Taxi Information Taxi Licensing
