Russel Rabbit is running a National Campaign to improve the health and welfare of your pet rabbit.

From our research, most rabbit owners are unaware of VHD & Myxomatosis - and a need for your rabbit to attend routine health checks.

Supreme Petfoods are concerned by this and want to improve the well-being of rabbits, so have embarked on an initiative with the help of veterinary practices to provide FREE Russel Rabbit Health Checks for you.

REASONS YOU SHOULD REGULARLY HAVE YOUR RABBITS HEALTH CHECKED
The health of your rabbit should always be taken seriously. Apart from the need for socialisation and stimulation, rabbits should be handled daily and checked over for any signs of illness, i.e cuts, lumps, runny eyes and dirty bottom. You will soon get to know your rabbit and recognise warning signs that all is not well, even if it is just a sense that your rabbit "doesn't seem itself". With most rabbit illnesses, fast intervention and treatment is vital. This is especially the case with diseases such as myxomatosis, and VHD. For this reason it is important that your rabbit has regular health checks from a veterinary surgeon.

Reasons you should have your rabbit's health checked regularly at your local veterinary surgery:
  • Early diagnosis & treatment of underlying illness, disorders or disease.
  • Regular dental checks to monitor if teeth are overgrown or misaligned.
  • Examination of coat for soreness, parasites or hair loss.
  • To provide you with nutritional advice on feeding your rabbit correctly.
  • Ensure regular vaccination for myxamotosis and VHD.
  • Allow you to monitor the weight of the pet preventing obesity and associated illnesses.
  • Encourages you to consider the animal's environment and provide enrichment.
  • Increase your awareness of signs of ill health to look for in your pet.
