Portobello has three main areas of interest: film, television and theatre. Film and television projects are developed and produced through the Portobello Pictures label. Theatre projects operate through Portobello Productions.

In October 2006, Portobello opened an office in Cape Town and announced a new collaboration with award-winning director Mark Dornford-May to produce theatre and film projects, Isango Portobello.
