e !to this first edition of the Parker Sussex Bulletin, a publication dedicated to keeping our valued clients and suppliers abreast of joinery news. First, if I may, a little about our company and myself. For almost 50 years our factory in Worthing has produced quality custom made joinery such as doors, windows, furniture and similar items. Over those years an enviable reputation for craftsmanship and reliability of product has been created. Because of this excellent reputation Parker Sussex Ltd is employed by many of the major names in the construction industry.I joined the company in February 1997 and since that time have come to know many of you. However due to the wide and varied areas in which we operate I am only to aware of the fact that I have been unable to meet you all. Something I aim to rectify over time. Meanwhile this newsletter should provide you with an insight as to what we are about.
In the meantime I, and my team here at Parkers hope that you will find this newsletter of interest and assure you that we are dedicated to meeting clients needs. With this in mind I am taking this opportunity to bring you up to date with the latest developments within the company and our plans for the next 12 months.
OUR AIM To provide joinery of the highest quality supported by an on-going commitment to improving service. Our aim is to build an organisation structured to support and develop our business to meet the needs of our clients and develop good relationships with our suppliers.
ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE. Our policy of investment in plant and machinery continues. Thanks to this we improved manufacturing efficiency and turnover in 1998 to a record level. However we still have the capacity to broaden our area of operations, both within the mill and the joinery shop. Our next scheduled major purchase is a 5 headed moulder to produce larger runs of architrave, skirting, dado etc.. Working alongside our profile grinder this will provide the means to reproduce complex mouldings with a high degree of accuracy. These products will be at our usual very competitive prices.

SUPPLY & FIX most of you are aware that we offer a full supply and fix joinery package. For several years we have been carrying out fixing contracts building up a reliable team of experienced fitters. During 1998 we completed a number of prestige full shop front re-fits. Also installation of glazed screens, reception counters, veneered cherry & oak panelled walls, door frames and box sash windows. Currently we undertake fixing packages up to c£50k. Why not give us a call so that we may offer quotations for your packages.
OUR MANAGEMENT There have been several changes in the company management team structure throughout 1998. Eddie Lavery, Works Director, who many of you knew, retired after a long and distinguished career in the wood working industry. This left me with a hard act to follow, and one that I am trying to live up to. However although retired, he remains in frequent contact with the company thus keeping us on the straight and narrow, and enabling us to continue to benefit from his wealth of joinery knowledge.
