CS/3 Enterprise v2.0

We want to use the product pad facility in the telesales module.

This requires the running of "order pad generation" and "cross reference file generation", ideally on a daily basis.

These take about an hour to run, during which, we have been told we cannot use the system.

The manual tells us that these are designed to run overnight and shows us how to do it on Unix - we have NT4.

Is there any way that NT4 users can use product pads without long periods of down time?

The best solution for this routine is to use the Job Scheduler (AutoQ) module to automate this process on a nightly basis.

Its some months now since the Interact acquisition and there has been little information regarding a SES to SalesLogix interface. In the recent issue of Sage Focus the article on CRM boasts "Sage is able to offer complete integration". Our reseller informs me that Sage will not be developing a standard interface instead recommending users to adopt an interface already written by another reseller.

What is the official position?

The reseller is correct. In the short term there will be no integration provided by SES directly. Instead users are recommended to select from a number of interfaces supplied by third parties. More details on accredited third parties can be obtained from Interact.

Based on initial information from our reseller, it is not possible to use inspection for incoming goods without using batch processing / tracking. Is this true? I understand the need for batch tracking of inspected goods where a shelf life is involved but, in our case, since all the materials we want to inspect are non-perishable and come in small quantities, we do not see the need for adding extra complications into the procedures by having to use batch tracking.

The reseller is correct. This could be considered as an enhancement but should be officially logged through the reseller as such.

Our aim is to stock-check a range of stock items on a regular basis (3/4/5 days per week as time dictates). The items to be counted would ideally be selected randomly with a preset maximum per run and the reconciled figures entered into CS/3 after completion of the count.

Once selected, a stock item should not re-appear on the report for a pre-defined length of time. Creation of the initial stock take card would be simple, but is there anyway to post the reconciled figures without having to go through the entire stock take routine of entering, approving and posting the results?

It adds an additional burden onto an exercise which has the aim of reducing the annual stock take burden at year-end.

A single cycle count command would make the procedure a whole lot easier - is one available?

See above.

We have a 4 user licence and need the capacity for 2 more users who can make basic enquiries only on our accounts data.

We are investigating increasing our licence, writing bespoke enquiry screens using M/S Access or purchasing Daboom Forms Writer.

We would be interested in speaking to anyone who has experience of achieving this by the above or similar means.

General request to ISTUG members.

Official recommendation is to speak to their reseller about possible options

CS/3 3.1 on NT

We have requested an upgrade to Enterprise. Our reseller advised us that they can only order from SES the latest version v2.1 However after several weeks of planning they have now advised that v2.1 has been put back.

Can we upgrade to v2.0 instead of waiting?

What is the problem with version 2.1?

Enterprise v2.1 is now released and if possible users should go straight to this version.
