a) Sage Line 500

·        2x IBM RS/6000 S80 production servers running AIX and HACMP (in mutual failover mode), hosted by Atos Origin; first line AIX and HACMP support provided by Atos Origin

·        2x IBM RS/6000 demo/test servers (F50 & J40) running AIX hosting by Bunzl

·        Sage Line 500 (formerly Sage CS/3) v3.1; upgrade to v4 planned for this year. Over 600 concurrent users supported, 7 different businesses/business models. First line support provided by Bunzl, second line support provided by Datel, third line support provided by Sage

·        Informix IDS v9.2.1

b) MIS

·        1x NT server supporting Informix IDS database; Business Objects used as reporting tool. Database run as offline data mart

c) WAN

·        Cable & Wireless managed frame relay network service (primary) – 85 sites

·        Implementing Cable & Wireless IP/VPN QoS as pilot in one business

d) IT team

·        1x IT manager

·        2x MIS developers

·        3x PC/LAN server support

·        1x DBA/systems administrator

·        4x Sage Line 500 support (+ 1 vacancy)

 

 


ROLE

 

a)

 

Responsibilities

·        Integration of new businesses onto Sage Line 500 & Bunzl business “blueprints”

·        Problem resolution on Sage Line 500 systems

·        Implementation of new Sage Line 500 functionality (new modules, new Line 500 projects, 3rd party add-ons)

·        Business systems analysis to support existing businesses and the development of new functionality

 

b) Experience & skills

·        minimum 3 years Sage Line 500 support & implementation experience in a commercial environment essential, ideally gained in a high volume transaction processing, supply chain management environment

·        in depth working knowledge of ledgers, stock, purchasing, order processing, telesales, warehouse management & EDI

·        project management in a system implementation environment

·        AIX (IBM UNIX), a distinct advantage

·        Relational database, a distinct advantage (in particular, Informix IDS)

·        Preparedness to work on a rota basis to provide support for month end and out-of-hours

 

c) Personal skills & background

·        graduate calibre

·        preparedness to undertake UK and mainland Europeanropean travel

·        Adaptable, resilient, highly motivated, enthusiastic, team-player, customer-focused, credible with commercial management

·        Ability to work under pressure, to deadlines

·        Ability to tackle simultaneous tasks effectively

·        Able to add value from “day 1”

·        European languages, an advantage

·        Reporting to Sage Line 500 support & development team manager
