2. Group IT strategy
Tactics for achieving BOS’s IT strategy are focused on standardization, centralization and business functionality enhancement. Standardization is key is order to achieve operating efficiencies and to facilitate the integration of acquisitions and this is achieved via
The dominant ERP platform is Sage Enterprise (formerly Tetra CS/3) running on an IBM RS/6000 S80 dual node cluster under AIX and Informix IDS relational database, and there are plans to standardize throughout the existing Group of companies within BOS over the next two years.
3. The IT team
Activities of the Epsom-based IT team of eight focus on the following:
By the end of quarter 3 2001, services relating to the first four activities will be provided for Bunzl Catering Supplies, Hopa, Kove-Pac, Bunzl Retail Supplies and Shermond Surgical by the central team. These businesses account for some 465 licensed Sage Enterprise users and approx. 50% of BOS’s annual sales.
