I'm so pleased to have been able to raise close to £700 for this important charity. Biking 54 miles from London to Brighton is nothing compared to the challenges these children and their families face every day. This certainly made the ride including the gruelling ascent,Ditchling Beacon, seem
The Great South Run was undertaken this year by Nick Harris and James Barclay.
James Barclay writes
It was a bright sunny morning for the great south run. We both felt prepared and excited to be a part of the biggest 10 mile race in the world!
25k people had entered this year and there was a palpable atmosphere while waiting for the start klaxon.
The first 4 miles navigated Portsmouth's historic dockyard which made a great backdrop. The course then weaved through Portsmouth's streets until mile 6 when we were back out on Southsea's seafront.
Nick and I were next to each other for the majority of the race and by mile 8 we were keeping each other going on the 2 mile stretch back to the finish (we were grateful for the prevailing wind!).
We were both exhausted at the finish but proud to have completed it and especially as we were running for such a great cause.
The same valiant pair also undertook The Sussex Tough Mudder:
Again, James writes:
It was a bright morning for our first challenge and we were both excited to get going! This event is very popular and the car park was filling up, even at 8am! We were in the 8.45 wave so time for a quick warm up and then to the starting line!
The course was 10 miles long with 20 obstacles. It was a gentle start but things soon became tricky! The first challenge was a 10 foot high wall. We needed help of others to get over this , and this was the vibe for the day; everyone helping out to complete the course.
Soon came the "Arctic Enema", which was essentially a skip full of ice! This took us both by surprise and was frankly horrible!
After the shock we carried on and faced plenty of mud and water challenges, including a rope swing into a pool of cold water and monkey bars (which we tried and failed ha!).
Overall the day was brilliant and we completed the course in a little over two hours, which we were very happy about!
insignificant. A fun day of riding and in glorious sunshine too, it was such a rewarding way to spend a Sunday! - Zara Ozade

Who’s doing what for Miracles
Miracles is deeply grateful to its many people who support our work in many ways.
is vital for the ever-increasing number of people who fall through the net of other aid agencies and can find nowhere else to turn. Social Workers, Hospitals and Citizens' Advice Bureaux around the country rely on Miracles for a rapid response for families in the shadow of terminal sickness, for child carers living in poverty and for individual cases of extreme need.
MIRACLES IN THE UK…
Huge thanks to Chelsea Football Team for giving some of our children such wonderful memories to treasure.
With their second year’s sponsorship for Miracles now complete, the parents, staff and pupils of Eaton Square School have raised almost three hundred thousand pound for Miracles’ work. Thank you all – from the bottom of our hearts and those of the families we are able to help.
