Realising Asia 's ambition to eradicate poverty within a generation calls for new kinds of partnership between governments, donors and civil society in Asia.
Aid relationships need rethinking to accommodate the expected progression of some Asian countries to middle-income status. ‘Scaling up' successful development programmes requires increased resource flows that are delivered in a coordinated and harmonised way. In the longer term, development cooperation needs to evolve into wider partnerships based on mutual interests, which go beyond the confines of aid to include trade, debt relief, security and management of the environment.
