New Support Group

We have recently joined forces with colleagues from both local statutory and voluntary agencies to launch a support group for families of disabled children from Black Minority Ethnic communities. We will meet monthly at venues in both Dartford and Gravesend. The meeting dates, times and venues are noted on our Diary Dates page on this website. For further details please call the information service.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

The government has established an independent review of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) which has now launched a national call for evidence

For the purposes of the review, CAMHS is defined broadly, including all services that promote emotional health and well-being. This can include universal services, such as GPs, early years settings and schools, targeted services such as social care and specialist services such as community child and family mental health clinics and hospital based services.

More information about the review and how to submit evidence to the consultation is at: www.dcsf.gov.uk/CAMHSreview

INFORMATION FOR  PARENTS OF CHILDREN NEWLY DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM

Research has clearly highlighted the importance of post-diagnostic support for parents and carers of children and adults who receive a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum disorder after pre-school age.

In response to this The National Autistic Society has developed the help! programme which aims to address the initial needs of all parents - no matter what the age of their child.

If you are a parent or carer of a child with a recently diagnosed autistic spectrum disorder and are interested in attending the help! programme please complete the form on the NAS website or ask for a copy from the office. The NAS will then inform you if a programme is being run in your area or whether they have added your details to their database for future programmes.
