CONSULTATION & DESIGN
Experience has shown us that architects, structural engineers and surveyors are better placed when tendering for exterior refurbishment work if a proper report is done on the fabric of the building at the outset. Our expertise can positively influence the methods employed by the professional in dealing with a property.
The service we offer ensures that our clients are carefully appraised of the causes and extent of damage to property, as well as the best remedies. By fully analysing every aspect of fabric damage and deterioration, we can greatly assist the client or their appointed consultant in the decision making processes.
We will research the history of the building's construction, analyse the causes of corrosion and soiling, test for steelwork corrosion where appropriate carry out BRE tests and advise on suitable materials for conservation and repair work. We then provide a full report with budget costings.
And by offering solutions to rationalise New Build designs we can help the professionals to make decisions on the appropriate types of materials and methods of mixing.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Where other repairs are needed to the exterior of a building, such as redecorations, leadwork, roofing, joinery and metalwork, PAYE will coordinate all of these services. This means that the client has just one point of contact and ensures that all trades carefully integrated to maximise the project's efficiency.

NEW BUILD
Through the ages, architects and builders have used stone as their preferred source of material when designing and building facades. It has a timeless beauty which can be used to create many different effects. It's flexibility, strength and ability to be enhanced with detailing means that its use in building today is as desirable as it ever was.
At PAYE our expertise has moved with the times, encompassing the use of stone on modern buildings. Whether our advice is sought on repairing existing facades, or a project calls for the supply and fixing of stone to a new building, we bring the same high standards and attention to detail that distinguishes our work.
When the use of marble and granite is called for on external facades, reception areas, entrance halls, bathrooms and kitchens, we offer clients advice on a very large range from all over the world, backed up by craftsmen who specialise in working with these materials.

REPAIR
Pollution can cause tremendous damage to buildings. Apart from the aesthetic considerations, (dirty and damaged facades are never attractive), problems will inevitably arise from neglect and serious financial losses can be incurred if property is not cared for. It therefore makes sense to ensure such important investments are protected. It is also recognised that a clean, well maintained property makes a firm statement about the company who occupies it.
Because buildings and their surrounding environments pose a variety of problems, there can never be standard solutions. Each project must be individually assessed and specialist teams are then carefully chosen for the particular skills and expertise required for each job. One of our surveyors will visit the site and make a full and detailed inspection of the building's fabric. We will then make our recommendations in report form, outlining our proposals.
Our teams of craftsmen will restore brickwork, stone, stucco, terracotta and faience wherever it is possible to keep the original materials. If decay in any area is too great, or repair is inappropriate, our highly skilled craftsmen will replace or replicate the original designs in suitable materials. When making decisions regarding the replacement of materials we consider such factors as durability, the effects of the local environment and, of course, aesthetics.
Our commitment to excellence in the standard of work we produce and the service we offer is carried throughout every task we perform for our clients. We aim to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget and our reputation for reliability and lateral problem solving has meant we have a client list whose provenance serves as the highest recommendation of our work.

CLEANING
There are many different ways of cleaning buildings and the method employed will depend on a number of factors such as materials, age, degree of deterioration and surrounding environment.
Our skilled operatives work with poultices, traditional water techniques, specialist low pressure abrasive systems, JOS and DOFF, and chemicals where appropriate. (Click here to see JOS in action) The wrong application can have disastrous effects on the fabric of a building, which is why we take great care at the outset to carefully survey and correctly analyse the problems.
For example, paint removal by inappropriate methods such as grit blasting will always result in unnecessary damage being caused to the stone, stucco or brick substrate, thus causing further expense by the need to then restore this damage. However, the repeated use of various chemical poultices, often combined with hot water will usually provide the best results. Test samples are undertaken to establish the most appropriate poultices.
One of our latest advances has been to develop a near neutral pH poultice which is effective in removing the characteristic brown stain that can occur on Portland stone after saturation from water

ENVIR0NMENTAL S0LUTI0NS
Much of our work emanates from the result of environmental pollution, and because we are daily faced with its damaging consequences, we have developed a commitment to not exacerbating matters by the use of harmful chemicals. So, when appropriate we will use nonchemical solutions for cleaning buildings and will research materials for their durability and ecological impact.
