AYes they do. The ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowances) scheme was introduced by the government to encourage businesses to use low carbon products; and therefore reduce carbon emissions. QHow do NICEIC and ECA differ?
ASome other electricians may have the NICEIC accreditation. As DX Electrica only provide electrical services to the commercial sector we have decided to have ECA accreditation. The NICEIC is a voluntary body for electrical installation matters throughout the UK. The accreditation is mainly aimed at electricians only and self employed, rather than electrical contractors and can include domestic work as well as commercial. The ECA (Electrical Contractors Association,) is the UK’s largest and leading trade association representing electrical, electronic, installation engineering and building services companies. The association is more aimed at larger electrical companies who provide a wide range of electrical engineering. Both accreditations focus upon quality of workmanship.
QWhat does ‘energy rating’ mean?
AThere are a range of energy labels which have been created to help consumers compare the energy efficiency of products within their category, for example the SEDBUK label which rates the energy efficiency of boilers. The rating ranges from A to G. There are air conditioning units on the market that are energy rating A. Higher rating units will use less energy and therefore saving money over a longer period of time. Some air conditioning competitors will provide cheaper air conditioning units that but have a lesser energy rating score. Make sure you check what rating the unit will be when asking for a quotation.
QWhat happens if you don’t comply with F Gas regulations?
AIf prosecuted for not complying with the F Gas regulations operators can currently face an unlimited fine. Businesses that fail to comply with the air conditioning inspection legislation can automatically be given a fine of £300.
QWhy should we buy a maintenance contract after install?
AMaintenance is an essential way to ensure that you newly installed unit is looked after and works efficiently all year round. As part of the manufacturers Terms and Conditions the warranty on the equipment carries up to 3 year parts only warranty (it varies between each manufacturer.) This warranty is not transferable and subject to a pre-commissioning check sheet being completed and returned, and the equipment being covered by a maintenance agreement for the full three years.
The maintenance contract doesn’t have to be with DX Cooling. You are more than welcome to find another supplier if you wish. In this case problems with regards to the warranty on parts would be dealt with by the new maintenance company. DX Cooling still offer 12 months warranty on the workmanship.
QWhat is an average price for installing air conditioning?
AThe price of air conditioning can be dependent upon numerous items. For example; where the outdoor unit will be placed, how long the pipe-run will need to be to connect the indoor unit to the outdoor unit, the ceiling void, the type of building and building restrictions and the size of the room. Prices start from approximately £1,500.
