Boys Activities

Football
Parkgate boys play football during the autumn term from Pre-Prep 1 through to Prep 6. An important part of the curriculum, football is a sport in which we have been thriving during both PE lessons and competitive fixtures. At Parkgate House we also play mini soccer, a variation of the game that is modified for younger children to help them understand the key elements of football. Matches are generally played with six or seven-aside teams as this allows the boys to be more involved, developing their skills faster, helping them to understand the rules of football and boosting their fitness.

Rugby
In the spring term we introduce tag rugby to our Pre-Prep and Prep 3 boys. Tag rugby is a fantastic sport that teaches pupils the basics of rugby, such as passing, dodging, running and tagging, all whilst playing a fast-moving and safe non-contact game. During Prep 4 to Prep 6, Parkgate boys play contact rugby, a sport which mirrors the game played by the top professional players. Boys learn to tackle, dodge, ruck, maul, scrummage and pass, preparing them for competitive matches against local schools.

Cricket
During the summer term, Parkgate boys play cricket. Pre-Prep 1 – Prep 3 play a version of the game called kwik cricket, a highly inclusive sport where every player has an opportunity to bowl, bat and field. From Prep 4 - Prep 6, the boys play traditional cricket with the emphasis changing to individual skills development in batting, fielding and bowling in readiness for competitive fixtures against other schools.
